Who Cares about Climate Change?

Q. Species go extinct, the Sun will expand and engulf the Earth, humans will only be around for a billion years or so, so why should we care about climate change?

A. True, species go extinct, we see that in the geologic record, we are seeing it in our lifetimes, and as different stresses pressure a species, only resilient ones will survive (think cockroaches, ants, some birds, and some animals that can migrate).  Yes, the Sun is predicted to grow over time and engulf the Earth, when the Earth is more than twice as old as it is now, big time stuff.

The way I see it, climate change is only a problem if you have morals or ethics.  If you care about yourself and your life and what is happening right now, you probably won’t and can’t care about climate change.  If you think you deserve to live a…
